Serious Question?

If I get an Associate's Degree in Business Administration, what kind of job will I be able to get. (Ex: Corporate Office, Secretary, etc......) Please Help, I really need to know. I want to be an Entrepreneur. I heard that I have to major in Business Marketing, Is that true? I go to a Community College, so I will be receiving my AA in Business Administration soon. I did not know that I did not need a degree. Well, how do I go about getting my business license???

  1. "I want to be an Entrepreneur." You do not need a degree to be an Entrepreneur. In fact a degree could be a hindrance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrepreneur (serious answer!)
  2. Well you need to ask yourself a few questions. What type of business do you want to own? Technically you don't even need a degree to own your own business. I mean who are your trying to impress if you are your own boss? If you plan to be an entrepreneur then any education you get should be for your own benefit. The only exceptions are highly technical fields like CPAs, lawyers, and doctors where you would need specific credentials. If you want to be an entrepreneur, the most important thing for you to do right now is network. Then you can meet people in the business you want to go into and they can point you in the right direction in what steps you should take to start your business. As far as what kind of job you can get, this will take alot of research. I would check sites like Monster and career builder for jobs in your field. Careerbuilder has a feature that will recommend jobs for you based on your education and experience. That would be a good place to start. Hope this helps.
  3. Entrepreneurs tend to make 'gut' decisions rather than ones based on staid and low risk business models. The most successful entrepreneurs either did not attend university (certainly not post grad) or developed their initial business while studying - few people that study business skills become entrepreneurs.. it is not something you can teach. there is a big difference between a business person and entreprenure in approach.
