Idahoans: what makes Boise such a great city?

A number of magazines have pointed to Boise for its quality of life. * Best places for business and careers: # 3 (Forbes Magazine, 2007) * Urban environment report card: # 6 (Earth Day Network, 2007) * Boomtowns: Hottest cities for entrepreneurs (midsize cities): # 9 (Inc.com, 2007) * Most secure places to live (500,000 or more residents): # 1 (Farmers Insurance 2006) * Best places to live: # 8 (Money Magazine, 2006) I'm intrigued by all of this. What is it about Boise that makes it such a good place to live?

  1. I'll admit it, I don't live there. But I've travelled to Boise extensively (as well as to 45 US states and 12 other countries, so I have a lot to compare it to!), and I can tell you that Boise is a very nice small city. It's very clean and picturesque. I've found the people to be friendly. There's cultural activites and a sense of pride in their town. The local businesses have very loyal workers. It's not full of traffic, it's easy to get around, you can get a lot of house for the money. Boise has a LOT going for it!
  2. Boise is a great place to live. It has all the great things a small communtiy has and the luxuries that a big city has. We currently have a unemployment rate 2 percent under the nation average and I rarely hear of anyone with out a job. House is very affordable comparied to the large citys. What makes it really great is I can go Golfing, ATVing, sking, hiking, biking, boating, and clubing all in the same day if I can find time. Two thirds of the year we see nothing but sunshine. We experience all 4 seasons and have temperatures that range from 115 degrees to - 20 degrees (these are the extremes), but there is a little something for everyone. It is really great!
